Möbius project showcases its contributions to innovate in the publishing sector at Book Pride Milano 2023
The Möbius project, an initiative funded under the European Commission Horizon 2020 programme, showcased its contributions to the European book publishing industry at Book Pride Milano 2023, from March 10th to 12th at Superstudio Maxi.
Möbius presented a panel discussion on March 10th at 10:30h titled “The future of the book: the Möbius project’s contributions to innovate in the publishing sector”, moderated by Virna Brigatti, 20th century Italian Literature Researcher at Università degli Studi di Milano, featuring Tomaso Greco, Co-founder of Bookabook, and Roberto Carradore, Postdoctoral Researcher at DEN Institute, both Möbius partners. Bookabook also showcased and disseminated the project in its booth located in Superstudio Maxi, where many attendees asked information about the Möbius Project.
The panel discussion, joined by around 30 attendees, focused on the goals achieved since the beginning of the project and its future objectives. As the panelists had different backgrounds, we could obtain several discourses about the Möbius Project and its innovations through different areas of competence: from Tomaso Greco, as a publisher, Roberto Carradore, from research, and from Virna Brigatti, a literature and historical perspective among Möbius.
“Möbius has already achieved its goal in determining what the future of the book will be, how readers will be involved and how the publishing sector will evolve”, highlighted Tomaso Greco, who added that “authors embrace the possibility technology offers to build dialogues and relationships with the public through different reading forms and experiences.”
Roberto Carradore stated that “ebooks do not substitute books, they are an alternative reading experience”, and Virna Brigatti said that “authors never stick to just writing the text: from a historical point of view, authors write books for publishing houses and readers.”
The Möbius Project
The Möbius project aims to modernize the European book publishing industry by uncovering consumer potential and offering new multimedia experiences. By incorporating technology, the project seeks to redefine the traditional concept of a book and create interactive, multimedia experiences for readers.
Book Pride Milano
Book Pride Milano 2023, which represents between 30 and 40 percent of the entire publishing sector, aims to give voice and representation to independent publishing. The event was born in 2015 on the initiative of Odei, Observatory of independent publishers, and has five editions.
