The Möbius Project showcases and tests the Innovative Applications at The London Book Fair 2023
The project engages readers to become content writers, boosting the prosumers concept
The spring chapter for storytellers, publishers and content creators took place last 18-20 April at The London Book Fair, the hub of the publishing world. The Möbius project was there to explain how the project is modernising the European book publishing sector, and to present and test the Möbius Innovative Applications: Prosumers Intelligence Toolkit, Möbius Creator and Möbius Player.
Möbius faces the challenge of creating new immersive experiences through books and enriches the book experience with cross-media productions, such as the digital version of the book, which includes social interaction capacities; the 3D audiobook for an increased sense of immersiveness and enriched narrative by including three separate audio layers for narration, soundscapes and effects, and soundtracks; an audiovisual content based on the book arts, ad hoc artistic or marketing creations, or contributions from prosumers integrated into the narrative stream. Altogether, it allows users to enjoy a cross-media reading experience or to cruise from one experience to another (e.g., print, eBook, audiobook) depending on their circumstances or wishes. Readers, writers and publishers are able to do so with the Möbius Innovative Applications to create interactive content.
During the three intense days of The London Book Fair, Möbius partners were near the Tech Theatre, in a similar ecosystem to the project’s, to be able to establish good networks and get a deeper view of what is being done in the sector. Many attendees stopped by at Möbius’ booth to ask information about the Möbius Project and to test the Innovative Applications. In fact, over 60 tests were carried out, and people were very curious about the concept of prosumers, individuals who both consume and produce, in this case, individuals who both read and create content for stories.
In words of Spela Zalokar, Senior Project Manager and Communications Manager at ENoLL (European Network of Living Labs): “We are very excited to kick off the Phase 3 of testing the Möbius Innovative Applications here at The London Book Fair, because it is a great opportunity to reach out to a very international audience, and to showcase our products and get their feedback. We talked to a lot of publishers, editors, audio producers, writers and readers, and it has been amazing to gather their opinion on our apps to improve them”.
