A brief journey throughout the Möbius project
Lessons from empowering prosumers and fostering immersive experiences
Möbius is a European project that sought to bridge the gaps between publishing sector niches, such as prosumers within fan-fiction communities and leverage their literate potential to the market. The project, with its innovative approach, aimed to flourish this value and enhance it through new applications and reading immersive experiences.
Yet, the journey wasn’t without its trials and revelations. The Möbius has been a cross-sectoral and cross-disciplinary project and this thought proved to be rewarding yet challenging. Cross-sectorality and cross-disciplinarity required clear, target-specific and concise messages. Thus, a good communication strategy with segmented topics and messages helped resonate with the target stakeholders of the Möbius project.
We achieved access to the publishing sector through the usage of online strategies, such as one-on-one targeting and filtering of LinkedIn profiles and newsletters, and offline actions; physical events, provided the best success and smoother access to the target publishing sector. The discussion and knowledge transfer about the innovations of Möbius related to prosumers also were more successful through offline communication channels. Such as speaking panels and discussions in the events through the state of the art of “The Power of Prosumers in Publishing.” Also, specific campaigns targeting readers and writers separately proved a higher success in an online environment.
As for some forward-thinking recommendations, the project advises boosting visibility, using open calls at a project’s inception for visibility and repeating them to maintain it, never letting communication and dissemination efforts fall apart; and continuously seek fresh spaces and methods to refine applications and experiences.
